Maintenance Technician

At GC Realty and Development, we are looking for a Maintenance Technician to undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of premises. This is a position that allows for independence and variety in a well-defined and well-structured environment. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of maintenance procedures, hydraulic systems, and basic tools and appliances, and the ability to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines. To excel in this position, you must have the knowledge and experience in the following areas along with the ability to communicate on a daily basis with our maintenance coordinator. Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Inspect buildings and equipment to identify any issues. Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality (sweat copper, install water heaters, repair broken pipes, Rodding sinks, toilets, and all drains interior and exterior, etc.) Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace outlets, light fixtures, change out breakers, etc.) Responsible for drywall repair (mudding, sanding, jointing corners, water damage repair, etc.) Conduct general upkeep procedures and painting repairs, both external and internal. Performs appliance repairs when necessary (basic troubleshooting, fix locks, replace windows, etc.) Performs general carpentry repairs (repair door frames, window frames, fence repairs, trim work, etc.) Must have a basic idea of minor concrete repairs, such as minor tuckpointing, skim coating. Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard. Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies. Requirements: A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role. Must have their own tools. (Bigger items like Rodder & large ladders will be provided) Should know how to use a smartphone, and be able to use our work order platforms Must have own automobile and valid driver's license with insurance. Honest and able to work in self-directed, minimal supervision. Hardworking and flexible hours if necessary. Minimal on-call emergency hours may be required. Must commit to full-time employment, not for contractors. Able to fill out time cards and track individual man-hours and materials per job. Other valuable skills (desired) HVAC/Boiler Systems: Furnace/AC troubleshooting, boiler troubleshooting (both steam and water) for 6+ unit buildings as well as single-family homes. Areas covered but not limited to: Suburbs: Roselle, Elgin, West Chicago, and Schaumburg South Suburbs: Country Club Hills, Chicago Heights, and Hazel Crest.
