$14/hour, approx 7-8 hours/week, Opening: Mondays 5:15a-7a; Fridays 5:15a-11a, 2 days/week, and occasional sub shifts

SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Fitness Desk Attendant is responsible for conducting the business of the Fitness Counter and assisting Fitness Center guests.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
The ability to perform the essential functions
An interest in working in the recreation industry
An ability to listen and follow directions
An understanding of the principles of customer service and client relations
An understanding of the principles of risk management and safety
Possess a high school diploma. College fitness degree preferred, significant fitness experience required,
continuing education in fitness recommended
A Satisfactory performance on a fitness competency exam
Current CPR and First Aid certification
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:
Assisting members in the proper use of equipment
Monitoring the authorized use of the Fitness Center, this includes checking membership cards
Greeting members as they enter the Fitness Center and helping them sign in
Promoting memberships and Fitness Center services by informing potential members about the Fitness Center, giving tours of the facility, and explaining membership options.
Enforcing the safe and proper use of the equipment
Supervising and enforcing equipment waiting lists
Administering CPR and First Aid when needed
Sell memberships, by entering member data into computer
Assume responsibility for all monies taken during shift
Maintaining equipment, including cleaning equipment regularly, making minor repairs or adjustments to the equipment, determining when equipment is unusable, and reporting all equipment damage or wear
Cleaning the Fitness Center as assigned, which may include dusting, vacuuming, washing exercise mats, washing windows
Managing towel supplies, which includes washing, drying, folding, and storing rags, and other laundry
Assuring that keys are properly checked out and returned. Documenting key checkout.
Communicating and enforcing the policies of the Fitness Center
Maintaining a pleasant environment for exercise, which includes adjusting TV channels and volume and temperature
Reporting for duty as scheduled
Picking up and sorting fitness equipment and weights weighing 50 – 100 pounds.
Participating in all pre-employment and in-service training
Upholding the policies and standards of the Roselle Park District
Demonstrating high levels of customer care and service
Demonstrating good judgment
Other related duties as assigned
